PERFORMANCE: Fanny Lumsden Story Club

LIVE PERFORMANCE
Fanny Lumsden Story Club

An Intimate Evening with an Acclaimed Story Teller

Saturday 16th November at 7:30pm
Doors Open at 6:30pm. All ages show.

Fanny's journey has been a unique one, starting out on a sheep farm in western NSW all the way to Glastonbury UK via hundreds of Country Halls throughout regional Australia. The songs tell the stories collected along the way. Story Club is a chance to really get into exactly that - the stories and the songs.

It will be like you are sitting around the kitchen table, chatting about the themes and ideas that inspired songs from Fanny’s past 4 albums including ARIA winning albums ‘Hey Dawn’ and ‘Fallow’. If you have been to a Fanny show before you will know there’s always a story attached.

With only a very limited number of tickets available, it will be like no other tour the 2x ARIA, 9x Golden Guitar, 3x AIR award winner has done. Story Club is like book club, except without the pressure of reading the book, or even having an opinion.

Here's what others have said:

“There are certain visionary artists forging new paths and reinventing what popular music looks and sounds like. Fanny Lumsden is one such artist, delivering a compelling blend of stagecraft, storytelling, and musical prowess that has mesmerised audiences all over the world.”

★★ Joshua Eckersley, BMA Magazine 2023

“Leaves absolutely no doubt what a breath-taking voice Lumsden has."

★ Zanda Wilson, Rolling Stone 2023

“Lumsden trusts in the song, not the rules."

Bernard Zuel, Rhythms Magazine 2023

EXHIBITION
Ivy Hill Gallery Goes West!

Exhibition Open
Sunday 22nd of September to Monday 7th of October
10.30am to 5.30pm daily

An Exhibition of contemporary painting, ceramics and sculpture from selected Ivy Hill Gallery Artists.

Ivy Hill Gallery was a fixture on the Far South Coast of NSW for nearly 20 years. Situated on the Killen family property, between Bermagui and Tathra on the coast road, Ivy Hill was an outlet for the diverse artwork of the creative career artists of the area. Mentioned by The New York Times as a ‘place worth visiting’, Ivy Hill Gallery was much loved by artists and visitors alike. It was with sadness Carolyn Killen closed the Gallery in 2020 for family reasons.

A beautiful new gallery was built on the property which operated for three months in 2022 then closed due to difficulty with Council compliance. The properties have now been sold and Ivy Hill Gallery has ‘gone west’.

Simon Bragg, previously Chair of The Arts Centre Cootamundra (TACC), and Carolyn Killen decided this to be the perfect name for a two week exhibition at TACC featuring paintings, ceramics and sculpture by a selection of eighteen Ivy Hill Artists.

All artwork will be for sale after the exhibition opens. Click here to view the catalogue.

Watercolour for Beginners
With experienced artist Nina Roderick

Saturday 3rd August, 10am to 4pm
Cost of $110pp
(TACC Member Discount Available - email info@theartscentrecootamundra.org.au)

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
A simple beginners class covering types of brushes, types of paper including how and when to stretch, colour including mixing, tonal values and techniques. Students do NOT need to know how to draw. ABOUT NINA
I was born in the UK and emigrated with my parents to Australia in 1966. I have always had a passion for all things art and when I discovered that I could make my own at a very young age, there was no stopping me. After many years working and travelling, I have settled in the beautiful central western plains area of NSW. In 1997, I completed a Fine Arts course at TAFE which I completed with credits and distinctions. In 1998, I moved to WA, where I opened my own studio/gallery where I taught ceramics and painting in oils.

Since moving back east, I have ventured into various mediums including watercolour, mixed media and sculpture. I am an award winning artist having participated in many exhibitions and competitions throughout Australia including the Archibald and the Bald Archies. My artworks are represented in private collections throughout the UK, America and Australia. I am inspired by the effect of light and colour in the natural world. I love experimenting with watercolour, acrylics, oils, pastels and inks with a passion for portraits both human and animal forms. Art is therapy for me and I just simply enjoy creating.
