Exhibition Title: Cootamundra to Kanchanaburi – Intimacy with Strangers

“SEEING IS A NEGLECTED ENTERPRISE” Saul Leiter

Scott’s ongoing project encompasses the parallels and contrasts of two cultures, Australia and Thailand, as he traces his grandfather’s footsteps whom enlisted in the army in Cootamundra and wound up on the Death Railway in Kanchanaburi until the end of WWII some 80 years ago. Witness the fleeting moments and intimacy with strangers from a contemporary street photographer’s lens.

About Scott: Scott was introduced to black and white film photography while studying Fine Arts at Western Sydney University in 1995. Instantly bewitched by the alchemy of the dark room, he was soon skipping tutorials to spend maximum time in his new happy place. Fast forward to 2016, he bought his first DSLR out of frustration with the ever increasing camera phone. He needed more control to capture and to make the photographs that he saw in his eye. He hasn’t looked back with multiple publications, exhibitions and awards upon the world stage. Scott is at core a street and documentary photographer who sees the world as portraits. Often his portraiture work is captured in a candid and organic nature with his ability to connect and relate with people and characters from all walks of life.

Exhibition Title: Story of Water

Water has travelled through our world since the beginning.  In its never ending journey, from the clouds to the sea, life is born. Contrastingly, the dance of fire also creates new beginnings as it too sweeps across our land.

About David: David is a local school teacher with an interest in photography.  Since being a teenager and having a strong connection to nature, a passion for landscape photography was started.  Being self-taught since his time at university, his style has evolved through the mediums of colour, black and white film to digital monochrome.  The use of black and white imagery allows stronger moods and interpretations to be expressed about local landscapes, nature and environments.

Shellie-Anne Keogh, Exhibition Opening Performer

Shellie-Anne has always loved to sing, especially country music—it’s how she connects, tells stories, and shares what’s in her heart. About three years ago she picked up the guitar and started lessons at her local music school, adding a new layer to her sound. Now, whether she’s playing for a crowd or just strumming at home, she’s all about making music that feels real and brings people together.
