WORKSHOP
Accordion Books and Beyond
with Sue Wood
Saturday 23rd of August, 10am to 4pm
Artists love accordion, or concertina, books because you can turn the pages just like a traditional book or stand the book up and spread it out so all the pages are visible. Accordion books are simple to make and require no sewing.
In this workshop we will start by making an accordion book with a hard cover and watercolour paper pages. Then we will take the paper folding skills you have just acquired and make a flag book, a variation that is a perfect structure for assembling individual pages into a book form.
About Sue: “I have been a teacher for longer than I care to admit. I originally trained as a high school teacher, have taught for TAFE and community organisations, and was an art history academic for many years. There’s nothing better than introducing someone to new ideas and new skills and watching them flourish. My early workshop teaching had a textile focus, particularly free machine embroidery. These days my teaching is mostly in the areas of bookmaking, mixed media and design development.”
