WORKSHOP: Viking Knit Bracelet

  • The Arts Centre Cootamundra 18 Wallendoon Street Cootamundra, NSW, 2590 Australia (map)

WORKSHOP
Viking Knit Bracelet
with Stephanie Williams

Saturday 26th of September, 10am to 1pm

Learn the technique of viking knit to create a bracelet in either sterling silver or copper!

The origins of Viking Knit can be traced back to Viking-era Scandinavia, where the technique was used to make jewellery. It was a popular technique because it allowed for the creation of strong and flexible items that could withstand the harsh conditions of Viking life. The technique was also used by other cultures such as the Celts and Anglo-Saxons.

The technique has been adapted to modern techniques and materials, but it still retains the same basic principles of interweaving wire or other thin material in a continuous pattern. Nowadays, Viking knit is considered a form of craft, it's a skilful and artistic process that requires patience and attention to detail. The final product can be polished or left in its natural state.

Stephanie will provide all of the materials you will need on the day. However, if you have certain pliers you like to use please bring them along.

Bookings Essential by 12noon, Friday 11 September.

COST: $125pp for copper. $175pp for stirling silver.
Cost covers all materials & morning tea.
When booking you will need to choose between silver and copper so that Stephanie has time to order the correct materials.

Or book your spot in person at the TACC Office during opening hours - 1pm to 4pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. For more details contact us via phone (02 6942 4773) or email (info@theartscentrecootamundra.org.au).
