PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The 3 Mackie children, Maria, Gordon and Matilda will start our programme on piano. Many are familiar with the piano theme of Für Elise by Beethoven and this year Matilda will play the full version. Gordon has commenced learning the trombone this year and will play a duet titled Mexican Madness by Wastall.

MacKenzie Bird, a trouper of music, has commenced learning the flute this year, a change from euphonium, trumpet and percussion that he also learned! He will be joined by his mother playing a duet and will also play a solo piece.

Kay Bird is playing some challenging music now in her 10th year, the 2nd and 3rd movements from a piece “Spirituoso and Andante” by Telemann. As the title suggests, this is a lively 1st movement with many changes in articulation! Kay then has a complete change of style to “Get Eccentric”, a moderate tempo funk rock piece with noted improvisation by the Australian composer Kerin Bailey.

The Cootamundra Town Band Inc will perform under the direction of Alison Patterson and also Mackenzie Bird who took on the role of conductor during Alison’s holidaying during the year. They will perform several songs including

1. “Canticum” by Curnow is described as a song of Jubilation.
2. “Pure Imagination” by Bricusse & Newley from the film “Wonka”.
3. “Caravan”, the classic moderate camel trot by Duke Ellington, Irving Mills & Juan Tizol!

The Cootamundra Community Choir and “Albatross Vox” (choir from Young) will also entertain, both under the direction of Mark Brooker.
