WORKSHOP
Versatile Graphite
A 6 week drawing workshop with Louise Adams.
Commencing Tuesday 18th July 2023
10am to 2pm each week.
$160pp for the full 6 weeks.
For beginners to advanced students.
BYO lunch and snacks. Tea & Coffee available at TACC.
Participants will be guided through the use of tone and form in relation to drawing. Beginners will be instructed in the use of gridding/graphing. Materials and final presentation/framing of works will also be discussed.
Over the six weeks a variety of drawing techniques using graphite in various forms will be taught.
In depth instruction will be given on creating/achieving a cohesive and interesting artwork.
Participants will be provided with two sheets of quality drawing paper, graphite sticks and a variety of drawing tools. Each student will complete at least three works.
This course will encourage the use of imagination, stretching boundaries and the removal of self -imposed restrictions. The longer-term goal being that participants are motivated to continue using the skills they have obtained through the workshops, enhancing their skill set through ongoing practice and the application of imagination and free flowing creativity.
Course Plan
Week 1. 18th July
Introduction to tonal values and form.
The importance of using quality materials.
Instruction on the use of drawing tools.
Gridding/graphing for those needing assistance with their drawing skills.
Commencing a drawing using graphite sticks.
Week 2. 25th July
Completion of Week 1 drawing.
Week 3. 1st August
Instruction/discussion regarding the use of objects to create different textures on paper.
Commencing of drawing incorporating frottage/hand embossing.
Week 4. 8th August
Completion of Week 3 drawing.
Week 5. 15th August
Instruction regarding the use of line and hand embossing.
Commencing a drawing incorporating the above.
Week 6. 22nd August
Completion of Week 5 drawing.
Instruction regarding presentation/framing and preservation of works.
