Carmen (Melissa Barrera – In the Heights, Scream), a captivating and determined young woman, flees her home in Mexico to escape a brutal cartel. Grief stricken following the death of her mother, she attempts a dangerous and illegal border crossing to the U.S. When she is ambushed by a violent border patrol agent, a fellow patrol member and returned soldier, Aidan (Paul Mescal – Aftersun, Normal People), saves her. Now on the run, the two journey towards Los Angeles to seek out Carmen’s godmother, the mercurial nightclub owner Masilda (Rossy de Palma – Parallel Mothers, Broken Embraces). As they travel north, Aidan finds himself drawn to Carmen's passion and free spirit, and his attraction to her grows. He too dreams of a new life free from the shadows of his past.
CARMEN is the directorial debut of one of the world’s foremost choreographers, Benjamin Millepied (Black Swan), and features a score by celebrated composer Nicholas Britell (Succession, Moonlight).
